Texas A&M has had a rough couple of weeks with players leaving via the transfer portal. Some high-end talent has walked out the door due to the instability in the program. Two members of the secondary have already left and another one is joining them. Starting cornerback Deuce Harmon announced he is entering the transfer portal.

Texas A&M CB Deuce Harmon Enters Transfer Portal
Harmon rotated with other players during his first two seasons but this season grabbed the starting job by the horns. By week 3 he was the full-time starter and racked up 18 tackles, seven pass breakups, and an interception. In his three seasons with the Aggies, he had 46 tackles, eight pass breakups, two interceptions and a forced fumble. He joins fellow secondary members Jardin Gilbert and Tyreek Chappell in the portal.

A Gauntlet In 2024
With all this talent leaving, it is difficult to see how the Aggies are going to be competitive next season. To make matters worse, 2024 is an absolute gauntlet for the program. The season opens versus Notre Dame and two weeks later, they head to The Swamp to play Florida. In the SEC, LSU, Texas, and Missouri are all waiting along with Auburn and South Carolina. It could be a very long season for the Aggies if they do not replenish their talent soon.

New head coach Mike Elko has his work cut out for him. Hopefully, the program can score some players in the portal and bring some talent back to the roster.
