It has been another up-and-down week for the Tennessee Titans. After finishing a disappointing 6-11 season with revenge-fueled victory against division rivals, the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Titans have shockingly fired head coach, Mike Vrabel.
Now, per Tom Pelissero, Titans owner, Amy Adams Strunk, has revealed why she has controversially fired Vrabel instead of following the conventional media wisdom and trading the former 2022 coach of the year to one of the 5 other teams that have parted ways with their head coach.
#Titans owner Amy Adams Strunk says she considered trading Mike Vrabel, but notes those are complicated and take time: “I was just not willing to go to the back of the line and missing out on somebody we really wanted.”

And whilst many have criticized this sacking, Ms Strunk does have a point – getting the coach you want, especially for a rebuilding franchise with a young quarterback, getting the right staff and support system in is vital to their future success.
However, fielding trade calls could certainly have been done with teams having just released their coaches, but presumably there were no immediate takers – at least not without interviewing other candidates first, so the Titans brass felt they had no option but to fire Vrabel.
What Did Tennessee Titans General Manager Have To Say About The Dismissal?
Despite rumors suggesting tension between the new general manager and Mike Vrabel, it seems like Ron Carthon and the New England Patriots Hall of Fame inductee were very much on good terms and maintained a strong working relationship, per Ian Rapoport
#Titans GM Ran Carthon says he and coach Mike Vrabel “never had any issues. We were in lockstep. I want to finally dispel that. I wish Vrabes nothing but the best. I consider him a friend.”

Carthon also made sure to make it crystal clear that it was Amy Adams Strunk, not him, who had the final call on Mike Vrabel’s position.
As for why Mike Vrabel was fired, Ran Carthon says owner Amy Adams Strunk spoke to that, regarding her vision for the long-term future. https://t.co/9ZSji2QfWD

It seems like the wheels are firmly turning in Nashville, and at some point, we will no doubt see what the Titans leadership’s new plan for the future is.
