Derrick Henry of the Tennessee Titans has just been named to another Pro Bowl after a bit of a down year for him. The Titans have had a mediocre season, changing to quarterback Will Levis in the middle of the year. As NFL week 18 approaches it is a bit of an emotional one for Henry as he is not sure if he will be back with the team for the upcoming season.
Before the trade deadline there was already chatter about Henry moving to another team, and as the regular season comes to a close the all time running back knows that this week may be his last with the team tht drafted him.
Henry has not only been one of the best at his position in the league this past half decade, but he has arguably been one of the best ever. He has already solidified himself as a proper Titans legend, and if he were to move elsewhere the Tennessee fan base would always and love and appreciate the man for what he has been able to accomplish.
Derrick Henry “Grateful” For His Time With The Tennessee Titans
While the emotions of this may be being his final game with the team is bubbling, Henry is trying to treat it like any other season’s final game. He was quoted in his press conference saying:
“There will definitely be a moment, last game of the season, I’ll be a free agent after this year, and I’ve been here eight years,” Henry said Thursday, via the team’s official website. “I’ll just be grateful to whoever shows up, and I know the fans will come out. Hopefully, we can finish the season strong.”
Henry has been a proper legend for the Titans as he is the all time leader in touchdowns with 89, and scrimmage touchdowns with 92, not to mention his legendary performances at quarterback. he also has the franchise record for yards per carry, and ranks #2 in all time yards just behind legend Eddie George.
Henry did not have the best year for his standards, but he says that just motivates him even more. He was quoted ahead of his week 18 matchup saying:
“Sometimes you need a year like this to be able to grow, to be able to learn, to be able to reflect,” Henry said. “I am definitely going to do that once this season is over. If I wasn’t fueled before, I am definitely more fueled now, definitely more hungry.
Henry does not know what his future holds as he is set to become a free agent this off season but he is at an all time high motivation wise and whether he is coming back or leaving he is going full force.
“Going into this offseason, I am going to attack it as hard as I can. At the end of the day, it is about being consistent and playing at a high level. I am my worst critic, so I am going to be hard on myself regardless.”
Many teams would love to add Henry to their back field as he brings so much to the table, but if week 18 is his final game with the Titans, it will definitely be an emotional one for the future hall of fame running back.
