The Tennessee Titans had a disappointing finish in their 16-24 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. Ryan Tannehill suffered an ankle injury in the second half. He returned to the game but got carted off after reaggravating his ankle in the fourth quarter. Tannehill was 8/16 for 76 yards and one interception.

Malik Willis filled in at quarterback for the rest of the game. Tennessee failed to get into the endzone on their last drive, having many opportunities.

Tennessee had the ball at the 1-yard line with 1:17 left. On 1st & Goal, instead of going out of bounds, Willis got tackled for a loss, trying to fight his way out of tackles, and Tyjae Spears got penalized for an illegal block. Willis got sacked on the next play for a nine-yard loss. Finally, Malik Willis’ pass to DeAndre Hopkins was incomplete. Mike Vrabel was so upset that they settled for a field goal with 38 seconds left.

The Titans start their season with a 2-4 record. They are currently last in the AFC South. A good part of the reason they’re in last place is because of inferior quarterback play.

The Dolphins traded Tannehill and a 2019 6th-round pick to the Titans in exchange for a 2020 4th-round pick and a 2019 7th-round pick during the 2019 offseason.

After starting the 2019 season 2-4, Tennessee benched Marcus Mariota in favor of Tannehill. Tannehill finished the season with a 7-3 record. He was 201/286 for 2,742 passing yards, 70.3 completion percentage, 9.6 yards per attempt, 22 touchdowns, and six interceptions. Tannehill made his first Pro Bowl and won Comeback Player of the Year. The Titans made it to the AFC Championship Game. During the playoffs, Tannehill was 36/60 for 369 yards, five touchdowns, and one interception.

Ryan Tannehill agreed to a 4-year, $118 million contract extension with Tennessee during the 2020 offseason.

Tennessee won the AFC South in his first season as the full-time starter. Tannehill was 315/481 for 3,819 passing yards, 65.5% completion percentage, 7.9 yards per attempt, 33 passing touchdowns, and seven interceptions. Tennessee lost the Wild Card Round against Baltimore 13-20. Tannehill was 18/26 for 165 yards, one touchdown, and threw the game-clinching interception.

Tennessee won the AFC South and clinched the 1st seed in the AFC. Tannehill was 357/531 for 3,734 passing yards, 67.2% completion percentage, 7 yards per attempt, 21 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions. Tennessee lost in the Divisional Round against Cincinnati 16-19. In that game, Tannehill threw three interceptions.

Tennessee selected Malik Willis in the 3rd round, 86th overall in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Tannehill injured his ankle in Week 7 against Indianapolis, missing the next two games, and Malik Willis filled in as the starter. Tannehill reaggravated his ankle in Week 15 and missed the rest of the season. Tennessee placed him on injured reserve on December 29th. As the starter, Tannehill went 6-6. He was 212/325 for 2,536 yards, 65.2% completion percentage, 7.8 yards per attempt, 13 touchdowns, and six interceptions.

Tennessee traded up to draft Will Levis in the 2nd round, 33rd overall in the 2023 draft.

Who will be the Titan’s QB moving forward?

Ryan Tannehill’s ankle injury is believed to be similar to last year. Tennessee is currently on a bye. If Tannehill is healthy enough to play, he’ll be the starting quarterback. If he can’t make it, Mike Vrabel hasn’t decided yet.

Whoever the starting quarterback may be, they must play well because that position is holding the Titans back. Will Tennessee give rookie Will Levis a chance? Or stick with Malik Willis if Tannehill is out?
