The Tennessee Titans added an essential piece to the offense in head coach Brian Callahan’s first year with the team. On Wednesday afternoon, the Titans added to their quarterback room by signing former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph. A few moments later, the Titans had a bigger deal to announce.
And it’ll break the New England Patriots’ hearts.
The Tennessee Titans sign Calvin Ridley

Per Ian Rapoport with the NFL Network, the Titans are signing Calvin Ridley to a four-year deal worth $92 million, of which $50 million will be guaranteed. On the NFL Network broadcast, Rapoport called the move a “bombshell” deal for the Titans.
Quietly, #Titans GM Ran Carthon and the team's brass have been lurking and in a splash, they land Ridley. New coach Brian Callahan and QB Will Levis get a big-time weapon. https://t.co/6uJuv9iaS2

The Jaguars wanted to retain Ridley after his 2023 season, during which he recorded 1,016 receiving yards and eight touchdown receptions. Last season was Ridley’s second-best statistical season.
The New England Patriots wanted Ridley

The Jaguars had heavy competition for Ridley this offseason. Per Sean McGuire with NESN.com, Greg Bedard with Boston Sports Journal said the Patriots offered a better deal than the Jaguars had for Ridley:
“What I understand is the Patriots have made a substantial offer to Calvin Ridley. It’s a lot better than the Jaguars,” Bedard said. “But Ridley, for personal reasons, really does not want to leave Jacksonville and is hoping that they up their offer.
“Will that happen? I don’t know. … It is indeed personal.”
Business appeared to trump the personal on Wednesday after Ridley signed an incredible contract.
