The Indianapolis Colts have gone through an exhaustive coaching search. Indianapolis has narrowed down its coaching list and Shane Steichen is a front-runner for the coaching job. According to ESPN Reporter Adam Schefter, the Indianapolis Colts have targeted Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Shane Steichen to be their next head coach and plan to hire him if the sides can reach an agreement on a contract. Shane Steichen will be coaching in the Superbowl and the Colts can’t finalize any deal until the game is over.
Indianapolis has interviewed multiple coaches and are one of two teams that haven’t hired a new coach. The Colts have taken their time choosing the right coach for the horseshoe. Colt’s Owner Jim Irsay recently provided details about the coaching search. Irsay said the final decision on the coach would be coming in days, not hours.
Shane Steichen Background
Shane Steichen is worthy of getting a head coaching job. Steichen has been coaching in the NFL for 12 years. Steichen has coached the Chargers, Browns, and Eagles. Steichen has a 93-101 coaching record and has gone 3-2 in the playoffs. Steichen coached NFL Offensive Rookie of The Year Justin Herbert. Steichen has spearheaded a potent Eagles offense. The Eagle’s offense ranked third in the NFL and averaged 389.1 yards per game. Steichen’s Eagles also averaged 147 rushing yards per game.
The Colts need a coach who can get the best out of their quarterback. Shane Steichen has done a great job coaching MVP runner-up Jalen Hurts. Jalen Hurts had an impressive season and improved as a quarterback. Hurts passed for 3,701 yards, threw 22 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions.
Final Note
The Colts had a disappointing season and need to get back to winning. If hired Shane Steichen could help the Colts become a competitor in a loaded conference. We shall see if Steichen becomes the next head coach for the horseshoe.
