Since 1925, the East-West Shrine Bowl has gathered the top college football players in the nation for a chance to shine in front of NFL scouts. A best-in-class event, the Shrine Bowl is the longest running college football all-star game in the nation. The Shrine Bowl has hosted mega talent including Tom Brady and Walter Payton, and in 2023 it will add seven Virginia Cavaliers to its elite roster.
2023 East-West Shrine Bowl: Hoos Who
Yesterday, it was announced that seven Virginia Cavaliers have been named to the East-West Shrine Bowl 1000 List for 2023. Joining hundreds of top players from over 200 programs are:
- Brennan Armstrong, Quarterback
- Kameron Butler, Linebacker
- Nick Jackson, Linebacker
- Anthony Johnson, Cornerback
- Billy Kemp IV, Wide Receiver
- Coen King, Defensive Back
- Keytaon Thompson, Wide Receiver
After a 2021 season of setting records, hitting career highs, and rescuing the Cavs from the jaws of defeat, it’s no surprise this group of players will join the top talent from other major programs.
Football For the Kids
The East-West Shrine Bowl is held to benefit Shiner’s Hospitals for Children. For over 90 years, this all-star game has benefitted Shriner’s Children’s and its mission to treat children with cleft lip and palate, spinal cord injuries, burns, and orthopaedic conditions, regardless of family’s ability to pay for these services.
In February 2023, fans can be a part of this mission by tuning in to the live broadcast on NFL Network.
