There are plenty of question marks surrounding the Seattle Seahawks, and these issues are preventing them from making any serious push for a Super Bowl title.
SInce it’s widely believed that the Seahawks will struggle to compete in 2024, it might make sense for the tea’s top contributors to consider moving elsewhere to chase their Super Bowl dreams.
One such player who is believed to be departing the Seahawks sooner than later is one of the people behind the team’s most iconic defensive unit.
Bobby Wagner expected to leave the Seattle Seahawks after a career season
NFL insider Ian Rapoport broke the news that the Seahawks won’t likely be getting Bobby Wagner back as he put up too impressive of a performance with the team to tie him down with a more reasonable contract:
All-Pro and Pro Bowl LB Bobby Wagner is expected to test the market, and it’s currently viewed as unlikely that he returns to the #Seahawks, source said. Coming off a career-high 183 tackles, Wagner joins a talented off-the-ball LB group in free agency.

Wagner’s 183 tackles wasn’t the only thing that was impressive during his return to the Seahawks after an excursion to division rivals Los Angeles Rams. The former Utah State standout made 96 solo tackles, 11 TFLs, six QB hits, 3.5 sacks, one fumble recovery, and three pass deflections.
The fact that he’s playing at such an outstanding level at 33 years of age shows fans that he can still play at a high level in the NFL and will surely command a big price for any Super Bowl contenders interested in strengthening their front seven.
Will Wagner ever return to the Seahawks?
This isn’t the first time Wagner left Seattle, but it may seem like this second departure from the team is a more definite farewell for the last member of the Legion of Boom.
With Wagner already in his early thirties, it’s only a matter of time before his athleticism continues to dip to a point where he cannot perform at a high level. It’s unlikely that the Seahawks will want him back by the time he’s 35 and done with whatever deal he’s made with another team.
Moreover, the team is also looking to rehash their defense. By the time Wagner can return for one more run, the defense may no longer have a place for him.
Regardless of what happens during the remainder of his career, Seahawks fans will continue to look fondly at Bobby Wagner’s contributions to the team. During his 11 years in Seattle, he made a total of 1566 tackles, 11 interceptions for 187 yards and a pick-six, 27.0 sacks, six forced fumbles, and ten fumble recoveries that resulted in three defensive TDs.
Wagner will always be welcomed by the Seahawks fanbase should he ever decide to visit.
