San Francisco 49ers RB Christian McCaffrey has been one of the best players in the NFL this season. He has made sports bettors rich, fantasy football owners happy, and is putting up MVP numbers. However, his status in Week 17 is now in jeopardy.
Christian McCaffrey Leaves Game
McCaffrey suddenly left the game during the third quarter against the Washington Commanders. We now have an official update on this. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, McCaffrey is dealing with a calf injury. As a result, he is now questionable to return to the game.
Just how big of a loss would this be for the San Francisco 49ers? Well, McCaffrey leads the NFL in rushing yards (1,395). Also, he is third in the NFL in rushing touchdowns (14).
San Francisco 49ers Moving Forward
In the meantime, the 49ers will have to try to win today’s game against the Washington Commanders. At the time of writing, they lead the game 27-10.
This game does have playoff implications for the 49ers. With an 11-4 record, San Francisco currently holds the top seed in the NFC. The Detroit Lions lost in controversial fashion last night, and the Philadelphia Eagles are in a tight contest with the Arizona Cardinals. A win here strengthens San Francisco’s case for the top seed.
