The odds to win the 2023 NFL MVP award have drastically shifted.
Following a whirlwind week 16 of the 2023 NFL season, which saw MVP favorites Brock Purdy, Dak Prescott, Jalen Hurts, and Patrick Mahomes struggle, former MVP Lamar Jackson raised his stock while looking to secure his second Most Valuable Player award. Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens outclassed the aforementioned Purdy and the San Francisco 49ers to close out week 16 action on Christmas night.
Prior to the clash of top seeds, Purdy was the odds-on favorite to take home the NFL MVP, boasting (+200) odds, while Jackson was right behind at (+450). To begin the weekend, Cowboys signal caller, Dak Prescott’s odds massively dropped from (+600) to (+1500) following Dallas’ loss in Miami against the Dolphins on Sunday afternoon, while Miami QB, Tua Tagovailoa saw an increase in odds following the Dolphins’ aforementioned win over Prescott’s Cowboys, as the former Alabama QB now sits with the fourth best odds to win the award at (+900) after entering the weekend at (+1200).
It wasn’t all bad news for the Niners as do-it-all tailback Christian McCaffrey saw his odds significantly rise from (+1,000), good enough for fourth best, all the way to second at (+340).
