Brock Purdy may have a reason to hold a grudge on the teams that snubbed him and the QBs taken before him during the 2022 NFL Draft. However, the San Francisco 49ers star isn’t like that.
Purdy is the Mr. Irrelevant of his draft class after the 49ers took him last with the 262nd overall pick two years ago. Interestingly, though, he ended up becoming the best quarterback from the 2022 class, now even leading his team to the Super Bowl.
San Francisco 49ers QB Brock Purdy Doesn’t Hold Grudges
During the Super Bowl Media Day on Monday, Purdy was asked if he feels any resentment towards those NFL franchises who passed on him or the other QBs who were taken before him. It’s definitely an intriguing question since, usually, that moment probably gave Purdy a chip on his shoulder.
Who wouldn’t want to prove themselves to their peers and show those who snubbed them their big mistake?
Purdy, nonetheless, isn’t the kind of person to have grudges. In responding to the question, the 49ers star also delivered one of the most self-aware answers from a player who is at the top of their sport.
According to Purdy, there’s a reason why he was the last pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
“No, no. Honestly I’m not that kind of guy. I know a couple of guys that got drafted before me, but I never held grudge or anything. … I fell last for a reason, so I haven’t held any grudges against other teams. It all happened how it needed to, and I’m blessed to be part of the 49ers,” Purdy shared, via NFL.com.

Brock Purdy certainly couldn’t have said it any better. That’s humility right there. Instead of putting others down to lift himself up, the San Francisco 49ers star is just as classy as he has ever been.
He also made a good point. Had the 49ers not drafted him, it’s unknown what would have happened to his career. Purdy landed in San Francisco and got the opportunity to start in his rookie year due to injuries. He didn’t waste his chance and proved that he’s capable of being a starting QB in the NFL.
Had he been on another team, who knows if he would be a Super Bowl QB or still a third- or second-stringer. It worked out for the best for Purdy, and as he said, he can only be thankful for it.
Brock Purdy Is the 9th QB Taken in 2022 NFL Draft
Brock Purdy isn’t only the last pick of the 2022 NFL Draft, but he’s also the ninth QB taken in the class. That’s right, the rest of the league though there were nine other signal-callers better than him.
Kenny Pickett was the first QB off the board after the Pittsburgh Steelers took him with the 20th overall pick. Desmond Ridder, Malik Willis, Matt Corral, Bailey Zappe, Sam Howell, Chris Oladokun and Skylar Thompson were also taken first before Purdy heard his name.
Regardless of his draft position, though, Purdy has certainly proven all his doubters wrong.
