San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk has been the subject of persistent trade rumors throughout the offseason, and as it turns out, the reigning NFC champions are asking for a haul similar to that garnered by another elite wide receiver in return.
Both Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel have been mentioned in trade rumors in recent months, but given what San Francisco is asking in return, it isn’t a surprise that both stars remain in the Bay Area.According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the 49ers are asking for a bounty in return for Aiyuk.
What is the San Francisco 49ers’ Asking Price for Brandon Aiyuk?
The Philadelphia Eagles made waves during the 2022 NFL Draft when general manager Howie Roseman pulled off a blockbuster trade for All-Pro wide receiver A.J. Brown with the Tennessee Titans.
Brown went on to play an integral role in Philadelphia’s run to the Super Bowl that season, and the Eagles recently rewarded him as the highest-paid wide receiver in the league with a new long-term contract extension.
Fowler reports that San Francisco is hoping to fetch a similar haul for Aiyuk.
“Multiple teams told me they had an interest in Brandon Aiyuk, but they believed the 49ers wanted a first-round pick for him, with one comparing the situation to that of A.J. Brown, who went from Tennessee to Philadelphia in 2022 in exchange for the 18th pick,” Fowler explained. “The Eagles then signed him to a four-year, $100 million contract. Trading for Aiyuk would have required a new deal and a premium pick.”
