The Rutgers Scarlet Knights received their 16th verbal commitment of the 2023 recruiting cycle. On Friday the Scarlet Knights landed one of the top unsigned recruits in New Jersey.
On Friday, three-star wide receiver Famah Toure announced that he has committed to Rutgers. Earlier in the week, Toure revealed that he would be shutting down his recruitment and making a decision. The Irvington High School product took to Twitter on Friday night to make it official.

Leading factor in committing
Toure chose Rutgers over several Power Five programs, most notably the Fighting Illini. Toure went on an official visit to Rutgers on June 21, four days after his visit with Illinois. Over the last month, it became clear that Toure would be deciding between the Scarlet Knights and the Illini. The Illini remained optimistic up to the eleventh hour. But above all the ties to the Rutgers program proved to be the deciding factor. Toure’s older brother, Mohamed, is currently a Rutgers linebacker entering his fourth year with the program.
According to Todderick Hunt, nj.com: Toure’s recruitment came down to Rutgers, where he was recruited primarily by wide receivers coach Damiere Shaw and defensive line coach Marquise Watson, and Illinois, where he was courted by George McDonald, who coaches receivers, and ex-Rutgers linebackers coach Andy Buh.
Toure will give the Scarlet Knights
Toure is a big-bodied receiver with speed in the open field. At 6-foot-3 he is currently ranked as the 17th player in New Jersey, according to the 247SPORTS composite. As well Toure is ranked as the 139th wide receiver in the nation. Toure has many qualities that Greg Schiano has been looking for. Toure is being compared to former Scarlet Knights Kenny Britt.
Britt also was recruited heavily by the Illini and chose Rutgers in 2005.
