Former NFL head coach Jon Gruden is rumored to possibly take another coaching job in the NFL. He was previously the head coach for the Las Vegas Raiders before getting released by the team for allegedly sending out racist emails. He has been connected to the Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator position after they have struggled offensively to start 2023. These struggles have led fans to call for the firing of the current coordinator Matt Canada.

Jon Gruden Career
Jon Gruden has had a rather interesting career as a coach in the National Football League. In his 22 years of coaching, he has a 184-156-1 record with a 54.11% winning percentage. He also has an 8-9 record in the postseason which amounts to a 47.06% playoff winning percentage. He won the Super Bowl in 2002 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after having a 12-4 regular season.
After coaching the Raiders from 2018-2021, Gruden was released by the team after he appeared to send out racist emails, which started controversy all over the league. He has not partaken in any NFL-related activities since his release, that is until he has been rumored to be a candidate for the offensive coordinator position in Pittsburgh.
Steelers’ 2023 Struggles
Pittsburgh has amounted to 1,341 total yards and six touchdowns this season which is amongst the bottom of the league. A big reason for the struggles offensively is believed to be the horrific play calling by current coordinator Matt Canada. Canada is in his first year as an NFL coach, and it looks like it might be his last.
Even with the struggles Pittsburgh is having, they still currently sit at the top of the AFC North with a 3-2 record. Their rival, the Baltimore Ravens, have the same record but fell to Pittsburgh in week 5, giving the Steelers the divisional advantage. We will see how the rest of the season for Pittsburgh pans out, and if they will make any sudden coaching changes.
