Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles lost their third straight game in a row, and unsurprisingly, fans were unforgiving. After all, Philly didn’t simply lose, but they bowed down to a struggling Seattle Seahawks team that were down their QB1 and had Drew Lock starting.
Fans and critics particularly took note how Lock outperformed Hurts in the game. Granted that Hurts was battling an illness heading to the showdown, but the fact of the matter is he’s expected to be at his best when he chooses to play.
Hurts absolutely disappointed in the showdown, failing to record a touchdown and completing just 17 of his 31 passes for 143 yards. Making matters worse, he had two interceptions as the Seahawks completed the come-from-behind 20-17 win.
For his part, Lock finished with 22-of-33 pass completion for 208 yards and one touchdown, which is unarguably the most important one after Jaxson Smith-Njigba caught the 29-yard TD pass with less than 30 seconds left to give the Seahawks the lead and the eventual win.
While the whole world praised Drew Lock, especially after his rather emotional interview postgame, the rest of the NFL came at Jalen Hurts to criticize him and his performance. Losing is one thing, and losing to a shorthanded team where they clearly have the QB advantage is another.
Lock hasn’t even started a lot of games for the Seattle Seahawks (with the Week 15 game just his second start of the season), but he was still able to outshine someone who was in the MVP conversation earlier in the season.
Fans and critics didn’t hold back in their trolling and mockery of the Seattle Seahawks QB for his forgettable display, with many even mentioning Lock’s name to rub salt on the injury.
“Jalen Hurts just lost to DREW LOCK,” veteran sports analyst Skip Bayless wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
A critic added, “Drew Lock owns Jalen Hurts as far as I’m aware.” Another one said, “Drew Lock got more dawg in him than Jalen Hurts.”
“Jalen Hurts was outplayed by Drew Lock. Good god,” a fourth fan shared in disbelief.

Jalen Hurts Questions Philadelphia Eagles’ Commitment
Interestingly, while Jalen Hurts admitted after the game that he needs to improve as well, his comments about the Philadelphia Eagles were noteworthy.
Hurts questioned the team’s commitment to improve their execution, an area of their game that they have been trying to work on since the start of the 2023 season.
“I’ve been talking about execution all year and being on the same page. We didn’t execute. I don’t think we’re committed enough and we’ve just got to turn it around. It’s a challenge that we have to embrace and just continue to see it through,” Hurts said after the Week 15 match-up.
It will be interesting to see how his Eagles teammates will respond to the rather strong message. However, Philly fans better hope that the team will respond positively to it, especially since they are at a crucial point of the season when they want to build for the playoffs.
