After losing to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, the Dallas Cowboys’ biggest problem is clear: they aren’t just the same team on the road. Both Dak Prescott and Micah Parsons are well aware of that weakness.
The Bills manhandled the Cowboys in their Week 15 showdown, with Josh Allen and Co. thumping Dallas to the tune of a 30-10 beating. America’s Team simply looked nowhere near the squad the won five games in a row before the match-up and even destroyed the Philadelphia Eagles 33-13.
It’s worth noting that four of the Cowboys’ five straight wins heading to the Sunday showdown was at home, and as they played in the Bills Stadium, their road woes were exposed. While Dallas is 7-0 at home, the team is only 3-4 on the road.
Prescott and Parsons understand that for them to become Super Bowl contenders, they have to be a better team whenever they play in a hostile environment. Fans of the opposing team won’t make life easier for them either, and they have to adjust and make sure they play with the same grit and mentality that they have when playing at home.
“It’s a huge difference. Really that’s what this next week of preparation and honestly these next couple of weeks are about, figuring out what that difference is and trying to close that gap. We can’t be those two different teams,” Dak Prescott said on their home and road performances, per The Athletic.
Micah Parsons echoed the same sentiment, noting: “We’ve got to get better on the road, and we’ve got to be road warriors throughout the playoffs now because of this. So, it doesn’t matter unless we get better on the road,” via Michael Gehlken of Dallas Morning News.
For what it’s worth, however, Prescott is not losing confidence on the Cowboys. While they have struggled winning away from home, he emphasized that they have “problem-solvers” on the team who can help them figure it out.
“It’s about finding those answers. We’ve got some great problem-solvers. We’ll get the answers we’re looking for and we’ll close that gap,” Prescott explained.
Big Tests Coming for Dak Prescott, Micah Parsons, Dallas Cowboys
The good thing for the Dallas Cowboys is that they will have enough opportunity to find a solution for their road problems in their last three games of the season.
They are already secured of a playoff spot, and while they are in still in contention for the best record in the NFC, fixing the problems that have haunted them all season long is equally important. Two of their final three games are on the road, and it should give the Cowboys a chance to address whatever is holding them back.
They visit the Miami Dolphins at Hard Rock Stadium in Week 16 before returning home to AT&T Stadium for a showdown with the Detroit Lions. They then close the season at FedEx Field against the Washington Commanders.
Hopefully, the Cowboys will be able to overcome their road issues before the playoffs begin.
