The Chicago Bears lost stunningly against the Indianapolis Colts 21-16 on Sunday afternoon on the road. Chicago dropped to 1-2 on the season and they are currently in last place in the NFC North. The Bears are shockingly off to a slow start this season.
Chicago’s rookie quarterback Caleb Williams is off to a slow start this season. He has only completed 59.3% of his passes for 680 yards, two touchdowns, and four interceptions. Willams was the number one overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft out of USC.
NFL Insider Blames The Chicago Bears Struggles On the Offensive Line and Not Caleb Williams
An evaluator was talking to Mike Sando of The Athletic about the Bears’ struggles this season. The evaluator said about the struggles:
“The Bears’ problems, in my opinion, start with the offensive line and the construction of it. Then it’s (offensive coordinator Shane) Waldron, especially when you look at the other coordinators in the division. He is clearly fourth. The head coach (Matt Eberflus) is fourth. Right now, the quarterback is surviving on his own.”
Kevin O’Connell, Matt LaFleur, and Dan Campbell are better coaches than Matt Eberflus of the Chicago Bears right now. If Chicago misses the playoffs this season, there is no doubt that Eberflus will be fired. There was a lot of hype around Caleb Williams this offseason when he was drafted first overall.
Justin Fields Playing Well With the Pittsburgh Steelers
Justin Fields is playing well with the Pittsburgh Steelers this season. He was traded from the Bears this offseason because they were committed to Caleb Williams for the long haul. Fields has Pittsburgh off to a 3-0 start this season.
Justin Fields has completed 73.3% of his passes for 518 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. It looks as if Fields was not the problem in Chicago. There is a reason some people think that the Bears could go after some offensive lineman help in either free agency or the NFL trade deadline.
The Chicago Bears will need to get it together at some point in the 2024 NFL season. Their next game is against the Los Angeles Rams. If Chicago misses the playoffs this season, there will be many more questions than answers about Williams entering his second NFL season. Some think that Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels is better than Williams right now.
