The Arizona Cardinals have tendered exclusive rights free agent Greg Dortch, which will cost them $1.12 million on their salary cap. This was a move that most expected to happen and is now official. After a breakout second half of the season last year during quarterback Kyler Murray’s return, Greg Dortch will remain Murray’s target in the slot.
The Arizona Cardinals Begin Filling Out Their Receiver Room
Tendering Greg Dortch is first move for a wide receiver unit expecting some change in an effort to give Kyler Murray more offensive fire power this upcoming season. Many believe the Cardinals will spend one of their two first round draft picks (4th and 27th) on a top wide receiver prospect, with Ohio State star Marvin Harrison Jr as the name mentioned most. The Cardinals will also have a decision to make as Kyler Murray’s close friend and top target from a season ago Marquise “Hollywood” Brown is scheduled to his free agency next week.
Dortch’s Breakout Play
Greg Dortch began turning heads when he burst onto the scene as an undrafted rookie in 2022. Dortch quickly built a reputation as a player who may not get a ton of snaps, but when given the opportunity will make an impact on the field in a variety of ways. That continued in 2023 when Kyler Murray reentered the lineup for the Cardinals final 8 games of the season. During that time, Greg Dortch recorded 23 catches for 278 yards and 2 touchdowns, while also serving as a returner, returning 29 punts and 17 kicks for a total of 635 yards. Dortch has been a player with strong work ethic that leaves it all out on the field when he is given the opportunity.
Arizona Cardinals fans have been clamoring for Greg Dortch to get more playing time. Fortunately for them number 83 will be back in the red and white next season.
