The Miami Dolphins are reportedly tipping their hand at what draft prospect they want, and it’s apparently a wide receiver that Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick has his eyes on. Go figure: the Dolphins and Mahomes prefer the same type of receiver.
Mahomes started his career chucking deep balls to Tyreek Hill. The Dolphins traded for Hill in the 2022 offseason. The Chiefs haven’t replaced the kind of speed Hill provided.
Patrick Mahomes has his eye on a WR

It only made sense that Mahomes noticed the fastest receiver at this year’s NFL Combine. Following a 2023 season in which the wide receiver play was one of the worst in the league, the Chiefs came into the offseason expected to draft a wide receiver to place alongside Rashee Rice. (They have since signed Marquise Brown.)
Mahomes noted Xavier Worthy was crazy fast when the Texas wide receiver broke the NFL Combine’s 40-yard dash record with a 4.21 time. Mahomes reportedly reached out to Worthy following the perfect to congratulate him on breaking the record.
But the Chiefs aren’t the only team that took notice of Worthy’s speed.
The Miami Dolphins met with Xavier Worthy

Per Hank South with Horns 247, Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel went over to meet with Worthy following Texas’ pro day. McDaniel had a big grin when he asked Worthy why he didn’t sprint the 40-yard dash on Wednesday.
“I didn’t wanna break the record too much,” Worthy said.

The Dolphins are set up to draft before the Chiefs

Worthy is considered a late first-round pick or early Day 2 player. Since the Chiefs knocked out the Dolphins in the Wild Card round on their way to winning February’s Super Bowl, Kansas City must wait until the No. 32 pick to make their first selection. The Dolphins could nab Worthy with the No. 21 pick if the Chiefs don’t make a trade.
The Dolphins don’t need a wide receiver this year. They have Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. But they might think about adding Worthy to the roster since they’ll likely be parting ways with Waddle in the future because of cap space concerns. The speed of Worthy and Hill on the same offense would pose problems for a defensive secondary.
