It was announced that the Pop-Tarts Bowl mascot was going to be edible months ago, and an edible mascot was delivered. As with the Duke’s Mayo Bowl, the winner of this contest would have the pleasure of a trophy presentation that included the promoted food brand. The Kansas State Wildcats took it home, using a late offensive touchdown and an interception to seal the deal. Thus, the spoils were theirs.
So, a mascot that spent most of the night putting on a show was now to be consumed. Hours of memories and built relationships destined to die at the hands of a college football team. Sure, Kansas State won. Yes, the Pop-Tarts Bowl mascot was the catalyst of a ton of entertainment. However, all of it was for the right to be consumed, a cruel ending when considering all of the laughs along the way.

As with the rest of the game, the Pop-Tarts Bowl mascot made sure to put on a show. The music and sign detailing its pride on the way down the toaster. Han Solo was frozen in carbonite with his hands in pleading and slight agony on his face. The Pop-Tarts Bowl mascot was toasted with a smile and a wink, keeping the infectious energy that people grew used to all game.
This is a moment that won’t be forgotten anytime soon. Nor should it be. College football is fun, and that was on full display during Friday’s Pop-Tarts Bowl. Until next year, may the Pop-Tarts Bowl mascot live on in our hearts.
