Pittsburgh Steelers and Jacksonville Jaguars are pursuing a veteran offensive lineman for the 2024 season.
Former Buffalo Bills center Mitch Morse was cut by his former team Wednesday. Today, he is being courted by two different NFL teams.
Mitch Morse completed a meeting with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Friday. Morse left without a deal. He left Pittsburgh and immediately left for meetings with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Mitch Morse, 31 years old, was released by the Bills as part of a large, salary cap-related roster clearing. Morse spent five seasons in Buffalo and earned a Pro Bowl selection in 2022. He was the primary starter at center for the last five seasons for the Bills. Before that, he spent four seasons as the center for the Kansas City Chiefs.
Does Morse fit with the Pittsburgh Steelers?
Mitch Morse would jump into a starting role with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The only center rostered on the Pittsburgh Steelers is Ryan McCollum. McCollum was signed to the Steelers practice squad, elevated, cut, returned to the practice squad, and is now on a future/reserve contract.
The pathway McCollum made throughout his NFL suggests he isn’t being regarded as a day-one starter for the Pittsburgh Steelers next season. Mitch Morse would provide a much-needed veteran leader in the middle of the offensive line.
Does Morse fit with the Jacksonville Jaguars?
The Jacksonville Jaguars are next on the list for Mitch Morse visitations. Jacksonville is in a different scenario than the Pittsburgh Steelers, though. Jacksonville has a center that has started every game for the Jaguars since being drafted.
Luke Fortner was drafted 65th overall in the 2022 draft. He was a day-one starter and hasn’t looked back. He currently grades out at 44.3 on Pro Football Focus. The Jaguars’ mindset is to improve at the center position.
