BREAKING: Pittsburgh Steelers Trade Former 2nd Team All Pro Wideout To Ultra-Receiver Needy NFL Franchise

The Pittsburgh Steelers have already stirred the pot offensively after signing former Super Bowl winner and deep Denver Broncos disappointment, Russell Wilson, to a 1 year deal to compete with incumbent starter and former 1st round pick,Kenny Pickett, and late season impressive backup, Mason Rudolph.

Now the Steelers are making an even bigger change to their offense, and have traded away star, Pro Bowl and 2nd Team All Pro receiver, Diontae Johnson, to the Carolina Panthers, per Adam Schefter.

    Trade terms:

🏈Panthers receive WR Diontae Johnson and a 7th-round pick.

The Carolina Panthers Finally Get An Upgrade At Receiver, Whilst The Pittsburgh Steelers Boost Their Secondary

This is an interesting trade, because, minus a little added compensation to the Steelers, it is more or less a straight swap; Johnson for Johnson – if you will.

The Panthers have publicly pursued multiple top end receivers in recent months, and to come down with (Diontae) Johnson is certainly not a bad result, especially considering they did not have to give up a valuable draft pick in the process.

Johnson is a number 1 receiver in the NFL, and established himself as such after coming back from injury in 2023 (to the dismay of my George Pickens-lead fantasy team).

However, having only eclipsed 1000 yards once in his 5 year career, he certainly is not the dominant, elite receiver that the Panthers once had in DJ Moore. Yet, this is still a strong result for the Panthers.

As for the Steelers – they now have a lockdown corner to pair with 2nd round pick, Joey Porter Jr., and with a superb history of drafting and developing wide receivers, Pittsburgh can now focus their attention on finding their new #1 receiver for future alongside Pickens.
