The Pittsburgh Steelers got a huge win against their division rival the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday night. They put themselves in a position to make the post season if they get some help today. However, they suffered a crucial blow to their best player and one of the best defensive players in the NFL, TJ Watt.
Watt left the game in the second half after suffering what looked like a season ending injury. When he left the game he was leading the entire NFL in sacks on the year, and we will see today if he keeps that stat for the year. His brother JJ Watt, was vocal on social media about the injury and then shared a huge update eon the Steelers superstar today.
JJ Watt gave an update today on the injury for his brother and the time table that for his return, if the Steelers do end up making the post season. It was thought that the TJ had a grade 3 sprain to his MCL which would be a full tear of thee ligament, but thankfully JJ gave a better update today.
Pittsburgh Steelers’ TJ Watt Suffers Grade 2 Sprain According To Brother
JJ Watt reported today that his brothers condition is not as bad as they originally thought. He said it is a grade 2 sparing and not a complete tear of the ligament. This is a huge positive for the Steelers, as even if they do not make the post season, TJ will only have a few weeks to heal up and be back to fully healthy at the beginning of next year.
JJ also said that everything looks much better than they originally thought saying:
“everything else looks pristine” and that a “couple weeks”
He said a couple of weeks referring to the amount of time it will take for recovery. But the other comment is also very optimistic saying that everything looks pristine, meaning that there is no complete tear in the ligament.
This will only become super relevant if Pittsburgh can get into the post season, but if not TJ will have plenty of time to get ready for the season opener next year. Either way it is great news for one of the best players in the league. It is always terrible to see the best players in the NFL go down, but thankfully it should only be a few weeks of recovery.
