Pittsburgh Steelers fans have voiced their issues regarding offensive coordinator Matt Canada, attributing their frustrations to his play-calling this season. Even former Super Bowl champion and Pittsburgh Steeler Ben Roethlisberger has publicly criticized the coach.
“Don’t just run like your basic run. Like, do some unique things. I’m still waiting to see a wide receiver screen. I don’t know that I’ve seen one… But that used to be one of our staples,” said Roethlisberger. “Catch, throw, get it to the outside where there’s not the big guys in the middle. Throw some wide receiver screens to get the ball moving. Maybe an alley screen, something coming in, but get the ball out of Kenny’s hand quickly. Get it to a skilled position.”

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Baltimore Ravens Recap
The Pittsburgh Steelers clinched a narrow Week 5 victory over the Baltimore Ravens thanks to an outstanding defensive performance. However, despite the defense’s efforts to create opportunities, the offense struggled to capitalize on them, winning only by a single touchdown.
The black and yellow defense forced three turnovers, two fumbles, and one interception. The Steelers’ offense could only capitalize on the last turnover late in the 4th quarter. Kenny Pickett threw a 41-yard touch pass to George Pickens on a go route.
Throughout the game, the Steelers barely marched the field on the offensive, kicking three field goals before they found their way into the endzone for the first time.
Even after their defense’s three turnover game, the Ravens still gained more offensive yards than the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Matt Canada Frustration
Many Pittsburgh Steelers fans have continually asked for the removal of Matt Canada. They were even frustrated with his reaction to the 41-yard go-ahead touchdown pass caught by Kenny Pickett.

The question remains – how much more successful would the @steelers and Pickett be with a less incompetent offensive coordinator?

The video shows the moment when George Pickens scored the game-winning touchdown. Inside the Steelers’ press box, the offensive staff erupted in cheers and celebration in response to the play. The video also shows Offensive Coordinator Matt Canada maintaining a stoic expression, remaining unresponsive to the celebration.
It was reported that Kenny Pickett audibled George Pickens’ route, sending him on a go, basically changing the intentions of the play called by Matt Canada.

He changed the protection call and alerted George Pickens on a go route.
It was something Matt Canada and the offense installed during the week as a check.

Fans have speculated that Matt Canada was not thrilled with Kenny Pickett’s audible due to his reaction. On 2nd and 9 and the Steelers trailing 10-9 on Baltimore’s 41-yard line, analysts believed Canada was focused on gaining smaller yardage and running down the clock before scoring with a run play or kicking a field goal.
The Steelers are now currently tied for first place with the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC North going into week 6. The Pittsburgh Steelers have not made any drastic decisions to change their coaching staff yet. As long as Pittsburgh can maintain its divisional lead, Steelers fans may need to come to terms with the possibility of Matt Canada remaining as the offensive coordinator.
