Over the past few weeks, there has been lots of talk of the Pittsburgh Steelers trading back in the first round of the NFL draft. There are now just two days left until the 2024 NFL draft. Here is a scenario of what the Steelers draft could look like with a trade back.
Pittsburgh Steelers Final Mock Draft
Here in this scenario, the Steelers trade back with the Cardinals to move from 20 to 27 and get pick 71 along with a late-round pick swap.
#27: Graham Barton (Duke) IOL
After trading back from 20 and missing out on some of the top tackles the Steelers get the centerpiece of their offensive line in Grahm Barton. Barton is projected to play center or guard in the NFL but also played lots of tackle in the NFL.
#51: Ricky Pearsall (Florida) WR
After the departure of Dionte Johnson, the Steelers have a massive hole at WR2. Pittsburgh can easily fill this hole with Florida receiver Ricky Pearsall. Pearsall is a smooth route runner with great hands and should easily slot in at the Steelers WR2.
#71: Ruke Orhorhoro (Clemson) DL
After their trade back, the Pittsburgh Steelers gained pick 71 from the Arizona Cardinals. They use this pick to add some youth to their incredible defensive line with Ruke Orhorhoro. Ruke is a versatile defensive lineman who should thrive learning from Cam Heyward.
#84: Roger Rosengarten (Washington) OT
After passing on an offensive tackle in their first three picks the Steelers selected Washington tackle Roger Rosengarten with their second pick of the third round. Rosengarten is a right tackle that should be able to compete for the starting role throughout his rookie season.
#98: Kris Abrams-Draine (Missouri) CB
When Dionte Johnson was traded the Steelers got cornerback Donte Jackson in return. This gives Pittsburgh two starting outside corners but not much depth. Abrams-Draine is a versatile corner that should be able to rotate throughout the defense as the Steelers CB3.
#119: Jermaine Burton (Alabama) WR
Even though the Pittsburgh Steelers drafted Ricky Pearsall and brought in guys like Van Jefferson and Quez Watkins, Pittsburgh still needs talent at wide receiver. In this case, Burton falls to pick 119 where the Steelers draft him to be their WR3/4.
#178: Curtis Jacobs (Penn State) LB
Here at pick 178, Pittsburgh adds more depth and youth to their linebacking core. Jacobs is a coverage linebacker and brings a different scheme than the Pittsburgh Steelers currently have with their linebackers.
#186: Kalen King (Penn State) S
With the trade back with Arizona the Pittsburgh Steelers swapped pick 195 for pick 186. With pick 186 the Steelers add another defensive back in Kalen King. King played corner at Penn State but could be better suited to play safety in the NFL.
