The Philadelphia Eagles, among a few other NFL franchises, are finally being compensated in the form of 2024 NFL draft picks for their losses in last year’s free agency. On Friday, the league announced 32 compensatory draft picks, with the Eagles earning four selections. According to NFL insider and ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Eagles gained a third-round pick, two fifth-round picks, and a sixth-round pick for April’s draft.
The Kansas City Chiefs led the way in compensatory draft picks by earning five selections. Meanwhile, the Jacksonville Jaguars earned the top overall selection, the 33rd pick in the third round, ending a streak of 13 years without receiving any compensatory selection in any round.
Philadelphia Eagles: Receive Four Compensatory Draft Picks
The Eagles gained four draft selections with Friday’s announcement of compensatory picks. Philadelphia earned the 97th, 170th, 171st, and 210th overall picks for their massive losses in free agency last season. According to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, the league comped the NFC East club for the losses of Andre Dillard, T.J. Edwards, Marcus Epps, C.J. Gardner-Johnson, Javon Hargrave, Gardner Minshew, Miles Sanders, Isaac Seumalo, and Kyzir White.

Most notably, Hargrave went on to star for the San Francisco 49ers this season, earning his second Pro Bowl nod. According to NFL insider Ari Meirov, Philadelphia earned their third-round compensatory pick for the loss of Hargrave. Meanwhile, Edwards had a career-high three interceptions for the Chicago Bears, while Minshew threw 15 touchdowns against nine picks with the Indianapolis Colts.
Eagles: Loaded with Draft Picks
With Friday’s news, the Eagles have seven picks in the first five rounds, including three in the fifth. Philadelphia owns the 22nd overall pick after finishing last season 11-6. Alongside their second-round pick, the Eagles own the 50th overall pick, thanks to draft pick swapping in 2022. Philadelphia initially did not have a third-round draft pick this season after trading it away for the right to draft corner Kelee Ringo last season. However, they will now be selected at the back of the round after the NFL announced their 2024 NFL compensatory picks.
