A Philadelphia Eagles veteran told Marcus Hayes of the Philadelphia Inquirer that head coach Nick Sirianni played favorites in the Eagles locker room.
Sirianni would reportedly “target” players that he considered “second-tier” as well as recent additions. Star players like quarterback Jalen Hurts and wide receiver A.J. Brown had their miscues go “unmentioned or excused.”
A toxic Philadelphia Eagles locker room could’ve contributed to the late-season skid
After starting 10-1 and having the best record in the NFL, the Philadelphia Eagles fell apart and finished the season 1-6, with their only win coming against the New York Giants who would beat them just two weeks later.
The Eagles struggled immensely in their first-round playoff loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They fell 32-9 to the 9-8 winner of the worst division in the NFL. Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield threw for 337 yards in the Buccaneers’ first post-Tom Brady playoff win.
The Eagles went from allowing 66.3 rushing yards per game through week nine to allowing over 150 rushing yards per game to finish out the season.
They were just the third team in the history of the NFL to start 10-1 and lose four of their next five games. The only collapse that could be considered worse is that of the 1986 New York Jets, who failed to win their division after starting 10-1.
Initial reports of Philadelphia Eagles locker room toxicity involving Nick Sirianni were denied
NFL insider Adam Schefter said that there were no problems in the locker room on a Philadelphia radio show called 97.5 The Fanatic. He was addressing initial reports from FS1’s Craig Carton that were in an article from Pro Football Talk.
“It is a problem that would splinter any group of men — any group of men,” Carton said on the air. “It is a real significant problem and it cannot be fixed. . . . I’m not gonna tell you more than that. I know what the problem was. I know they’re trying to fix it. I don’t think it can be fixed. So it will be very interesting to see if a high-profile player is no longer with the Eagles.”
Craig Carton says he knows why the Eagles fell apart, but he won’t tell us.

Earlier today, @AdamSchefter joined @975JKShow and had a lot to say about a certain “rumor” that was put out yesterday regarding the Eagles’ locker room.
“I texted someone in the organization yesterday, and the text I got back was, ‘None of that ‘S’ happened.”

.@craigcartonlive discusses his recent comments on the #Eagles:
“There’s a major problem among some of the guys in that locker room. I was very clear in not telling you exactly what part of the dysfunction was based on. I ask the Eagles, what did you deny took place?” pic.twitter.com/D5YFC7pMHj

Regardless of whether the locker room was toxic, something was responsible for one of the greatest in-season collapses in the history of the NFL.
