The Philadelphia Eagles were supposed to be one of the favorites to go all the way this past season. This team had it going in the first half of the season, and they looked primed to return to the Super Bowl to avenge their loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in 2023.
It just wasn’t to be, though. The Eagles lost five out of their last six games in the regular season. They still made it to the playoffs, but they ended up getting ousted in the Wild Card Round by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
There was a particular incident during the season that turned out to be a turning point for Philly. According to reports, the suspension of security chief Dom DiSandro proved to be the beginning of the end for the Eagles.
Philadelphia Eagles Coach Nick Sirianni Struggled Without Dom DiSandro
Tenured Eagles reported Derrick Gunn recently dropped a bit of a bombshell about head coach Nick Sirianni’s relationship with DiSandro, who got himself banished from the sidelines after a physical altercation with San Francisco 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw during a game.
According to Gunn, it’s DiSandro who “controls Sirianni emotions on sideline” and that “in his absence, Nick gets in numerous arguments with players/coaches during games.”
While this may not have been the be-all and end-all for the Eagles, it’s hard to deny that this played a critical role in the team’s struggles towards the latter part of the season and into their single game in the playoffs.
Talk about a pivotal moment in the campaign, right?
