The Philadelphia Eagles AJ Brown has been on a tear lately. After starting out the season a little slow, Brown has been racking up the receiving yards. After another big performance tonight, Brown has tied a record set by the legendary Calvin Johnson.
Philadelphia Eagles AJ Brown Ties Calvin Johnson
JBrown ended the night with 137 receiving yards. This is the fifth straight game in which Brown has surpassed 125 receiving yards. Since the merger, he is now tied with the Lions wide receiver with most consecutive games over the 125 mark. The trade the Eagles made with the Titans for Brown is looking better and better. (For reference, Brown has more receiving yards this year than all of the Titans receivers combined). The Eagles offense has been a little slow out of the gate but the brilliance of Brown has made up for a lot of deficiencies.
Tough Stretch Coming Up
The Eagles are going to need Brown to continue to produce. Dallas is on the schedule twice as well as the 49ers, Chiefs, Bills, and Seahawks. All of those teams were playoff teams last year and seem to be well on their way to making it again. It helps when you have a receiver like Brown. The pass that got him over the 125 yards was not an easy one. He was double-covered and he was still able to outmuscle the opponents and make the catch. It is a luxury to have this kind of receiver on your team.
Can Brown break the record? While the gauntlet of teams is coming, the Eagles have the Commanders next week. Brown should get plenty of opportunities to keep his streak going.
