As the Green Bay Packers prepare to take on the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday Night Football in Week 13, they are surprisingly in the NFC playoff hunt. Jordan Love and company have been working their way back from a rough start to the season over the last few weeks. Now, they appear to have a shot at coming all the way back and getting into the dance if they keep up how they’ve been playing.
With that in mind, the Packers do have some holes that could use filling. One of those holes is at the tight end position after rookie starter Luke Musgrave went down with a serious injury that could potentially end his season.
The injury to Musgrave was a huge setback for the Green Bay offense. However, they do still have fellow rookie tight end Tucker Kraft. Adding another tight end could be in the cards if the opportunity presents itself.
A Tight End That Could Make Sense For The Green Bay Packers
Looking at potential tight end options that the Packers could consider, there is one who has been linked as a potential target for Green Bay.
Bleacher Report recently took a look at one player the Packers should consider adding now. That player is veteran free agent tight end Dan Arnold.
“The Packers placed Luke Musgrave on injured reserve last week. While they have Tucker Kraft to turn to as a starter, they only have two healthy tight ends and both are rookies, as Josiah Deguara is also banged up. It’d make sense to add a veteran to the position group to serve as a mentor at the very least.”
Arnold played the 2022 NFL season with the Jacksonville Jaguars. In the 17 games he played last season, Arnold caught nine passes for 135 yards. His production may not be big, but he’s a good blocking tight end and a solid veteran presence to add behind Kraft.
Love has begun looking the part of a legitimate franchise quarterback with star potential for the Packers. Adding as many pieces around him as possible is a wise move for Green Bay to make. Arnold may not end up becoming a big playmaker for the Packers, but he’s worth a look.
It will be interesting to see how the Packers fare this week against the Chiefs. This game is a huge test for them, and coming away with an upset win would put them in great position to make a run at the playoffs.
Make sure to tune in at 8:20 p.m. EST on NBC to see if the Packers can pull off the upset over Kansas City.
