The Oklahoma Sooners are getting ready for their move to the SEC in 2024. However, the transfer portal has not been kind to them this offseason. While they have landed some good pieces, the program lost Dillon Gabriel and some huge pieces on the offensive line. The Sooners got a huge commitment today from former Washington Huskies lineman Geirean Hatchett.

Hatchett will have two years of eligibility remaining. He was a part of an offensive line that won the Joe Moore Award, which recognizes the nation’s top offensive line. Hatchett spoke to On3 and had this to say about the move to Norman.
“Out of high school Oklahoma was one of my top schools, so I already felt really comfortable down there. The biggest thing for me was getting to play for a coach like coach Bedenbaugh, the offensive line coach. He’s been able to develop guys so well since he’s been at OU. So I’m really looking forward to getting to play for him.”
This is a great get for the Sooners as it brings a veteran offensive lineman into the program.
2024 Outlook
As with most teams in the SEC, the schedule is an absolute gauntlet for the Sooners in 2024. They have to play Tennessee, Auburn, Texas, Ole Miss, Alabama, Missouri, and LSU in the regular season. Three of those teams finished in the top ten in the final AP Top 25. It is going to be tough to escape with only one loss, let alone go undefeated. The new-look SEC is going to have a premier matchup every week, and the real winners are the fans.
The Oklahoma Sooners have a lot of questions going into 2024. The addition of Hatchett will hopefully help solidify the offensive line for next season.
