Oklahoma football won ten games last season. On the heels of their best season under newly hired head coach Brent Venables, quarterback Dillon Gabriel darted for the Oregon Ducks. In contrast, his successor, former five-star prospect and freshman quarterback Jackson Arnold, took over under center. Following last night’s horrific 30-23 loss on the road against the Missouri Tigers, the Oklahoma Sooners moved to 5-5 on the season, their first in the hyper-competitive SEC.
With the loss, Oklahoma has lost four of their last five, with their lone victory coming at home against the Maine Black Bears of the FCS ranks. The Sooners have switched back and forth between quarterbacks Jackson Arnold and Michael Hawkins, while the defense has surrendered 21 points in each of their last six games sans the Maine game. On Sunday, one prominent Sooners fan page asked fans their feelings about the OU season as the second week of November ended, with many Oklahoma devotees sharing their disappointment.

According to the REF on Twitter:
OU fans, using just one word, describe your current feelings about this football season.
In large part, Oklahoma football fans are feeling an overwhelming sadness surrounding the 2024 rendition of the Sooners. Following a 3-0 start, Oklahoma has gone 1-5 in SEC play. After a disastrous 25-15 home loss against the Tennessee Volunteers, the Sooners transitioned from quarterback Jackson Arnold to true freshman Michael Hawkins. OU won their next game on the road, 27-17, against the Auburn Tigers. However, the magic of Hawkins wore off in their next game, and they lost 34-3 against Texas. A usually stout defense led by star linebacker Danny Stutsman, OU again struggled the following week, allowing a season-high 35 points against South Carolina.
After back-to-back losses to Texas and South Carolina, Oklahoma football has lost two of three games, including their most recent defeat to the Missouri Tigers this weekend. Tied 23-23, Arnold fumbled with under a minute remaining in regulation, with Missouri defensive end Zion Young scooping and scoring, pushing the game to its eventual final score, 30-23. Oklahoma Sooners fans are feeling the stress of the program taking a massive step back in 2024, venting through social media following Saturday’s most recent defeat:
Unprecedented. Been an avid Sooner fan 50+ years. I have multiple moments this season – including last night in the stadium – that are beyond anything I remember experiencing in my live as a Sooner fan.

I lived through and went to a lot of the Blake games in the 90s. This feels just like them.
