FanDuel Sportsbook released their pre-spring Heisman Trophy odds on Wednesday, with one Oklahoma football player (sorry, Dillon Gabriel) again cracking the top 15. However, despite the pre-season recognition, it’s a worse spot than where he sat before the sportsbook’s newest update. Former five-star prospect and soon-to-be sophomore quarterback Jackson Arnold owns +2200 odds to win the Heisman as of mid-Febuary, a slight drop off from where he sat previously (+1800).

Sitting atop the Heisman Odds leaderboard is a two-way tie between Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Carson Beck and Texas Longhorns gunslinger Quinn Ewers. Meanwhile, Former Oklahoma Sooners signal-caller Dillon Gabriel sits at third with +1000 odds. He will play for the Oregon Ducks next season, his third school in the past five years.
Oklahoma Sooners QB Jackson Arnold: Taking Over in 2024
The Oklahoma football program will head to the SEC next season after 96 years in the Big 12 (previously known as the Big 6, Big 7, and Big 8). The Sooners will embark on their newest venture with a new starting quarterback, sophomore Jackson Arnold. A consensus five-star prospect in the class of 2023, Arnold joined the Sooners last season while also holding offers from the Alabama Crimson Tide, the Arkansas Razorbacks, the Florida Gators, the Ohio State Buckeyes, and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, among others.
Arnold played behind veteran quarterback Dillon Gabriel last season. Gabriel threw for 3,660 yards and 30 touchdowns against six picks. However, he entered the transfer portal at the end of the regular season, opening the door for Arnold to start the Alamo Bowl against the Arizona Wildcats. The Denton, Texas native made some great throws, but turnovers ruined his starting debut. Arnold went 26 of 45 for 361 yards and two touchdowns against three picks in a loss.
Alongside Gabriel, offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby left to become the head coach at Mississippi State. Former North Texas head coach turned Oklahoma football assistant Seth Littrell will take over play-calling duties next fall while also receiving help from tight ends coach Joe Jon Finley.
Oklahoma Football: Faces Brutal Schedule Next Season
The Sooners could have a rude awakening to the SEC next season, with road trips scheduled for LSU, Missouri, Ole Miss, and Auburn. They will also host Alabama and Tennessee. Meanwhile, their out-of-conference schedule houses the Tulane Green Wave, one of the best non-Power-5 teams in the country. Tulane has won double-digit games each of the past two seasons.
However, if the Sooners can play well in their inaugural season within the SEC, quarterback Jackson Arnold’s Heisman Trophy odds will skyrocket. Four of the last five Heisman winners have come from the SEC, including last season’s winner, quarterback Jayden Daniels.
