The Oklahoma football program will end spring ball this weekend with their annual team scrimmage on Saturday. All eyes will be on quarterback Jackson Arnold, new offensive play-caller Seth Littrell, and the Danny Stutsman-led defense. Watching on the sidelines will be one of the top players in the transfer portal and an honorable mention for last season’s Big 12 Defensive Lineman of the Year.
On Wednesday, reports surfaced that former TCU Horned Frogs interior defender Damonic Williams will be in Norman for the Oklahoma spring game. Williams darted for the transfer portal earlier this week when the spring window was officially open.
Former TCU Horned Frogs DL Damonic Williams: Visiting Oklahoma For the Spring Game
Damonic Williams, one of the best defenders in the Big 12 last season, will visit Oklahoma this weekend as the Sooners close the door on spring ball. Williams, a three-star prospect from Bishop Alemany in California, according to 247Sports, enrolled at TCU for the 2022 season. Williams played a significant role as a true freshman, tallying 27 tackles, 4.5 TFLs, and 1.5 sacks across 14 games. Ironically, one of his better games came against Oklahoma, where he registered two tackles and half a sack in a blowout win. The six-foot-two, 325-pounder also shined in the Big 12 Championship, collecting three tackles and a TFL.

Despite a down year from TCU in 2023, Williams posted 33 tackles, five TFLs, and three sacks in 12 games. He accumulated a career-best seven tackles in an early November loss to the Texas Tech Raiders. Williams entered the transfer portal earlier this week, making him among the highest-valued players on the open market.
Oklahoma Football: Heading to SEC Next Fall
The Oklahoma football program would take a massive leap forward by adding Damonic Williams to the front seven. Oklahoma, led by third-year head coach Brent Venables, will head to the SEC next fall after a near century in the Big 12 (also known as the Big 8, Big 7, and Big 6). Alongside their rival, the Texas Longhorns, the Sooners will join the likes of powerhouse Alabama and Georgia in the hyper-competitive SEC. Their new conference is responsible for four of the last five College Football Playoff champions.
Oklahoma football will continue to make positive progress on defense. After allowing 30 points per game in 2022, the 99th-worst mark in the country, they surrendered just 23.5 points per game in 2023. Superstar linebacker Danny Stutsman collected 104 tackles, 16 TFLs, and three sacks. He will return to anchor the defense next fall with star safety Billy Bowman.
