The Ohio State Buckeyes have always been strong at recruiting. Ryan Day is showing off how good on Early National Signing Day. After staving off many programs for top overall recruit Jeremiah Smith, the Buckeyes held onto five-star edge rusher Eddrick Houston as well.

Ohio State Adds Edge Eddrick Houston To 2024 Class
The 6-foot-3, 265-pound edge rusher out of Buford Georgia is a top 30 recruit in 2024 according to 247’s composite rankings. Alabama made a late push to try and flip Houston but it failed. Houston stayed with his original commitment and will head to Columbus in the fall. Ohio State has had a long history of great edge rushers and Houston is hoping to keep the legacy going. For Ryan Day, today has been a huge win.
Who Needs The Transfer Portal?
The Buckeyes lost a lot of players to the transfer portal and many critics began to question whether Day was losing his grip on the team. Apparently, Day was focused on the 2024 class instead. This is the second five-star recruit to sign today which is a big boost for the Buckeyes. There are still a lot of positions to fill but if Day had lost both of these commitments, it would have been a huge deal in the college football world.
Ohio State is eager to show that they are still in the top tier of college football programs. There will be a lot of pressure on Day and the program to beat Michigan next year but they are doing everything they can on the recruiting trail to make it happen.
