The Ohio State Buckeyes have had a legendary run of wide receivers in the past five years. It seems like every year, they have multiple receivers that are bona fide first-round picks. The Buckeyes are looking to continue that tradition and did so in a big way on Wednesday. They landed the number one overall recruit in the 2024 cycle, wide receiver Jeremiah Smith.

Ohio State Buckeyes Add WR Jeremiah Smith To 2024 Class
According to 247, Smith is just ahead of Nebraska commit Dylan Raiola. The 6-foot-3, 198-pound receiver out of Opa Locka, Florida has been committed to the Buckeyes since last December but there were a couple of programs who were trying to make a late run at him. He decided to stick with his original plan. Jeremiah, the cousin of NFL quarterback Geno Smith talked about why he decided to come to Columbus.
“What stood out to me the most was brotherhood and I could see it. It was obvious from the start with the players, with the coaches, and how they ran practice. I knew that there was no place like it and it was special, and it was a great opportunity I couldn’t miss out on.”
Smith was impressed with the culture and likely the history of building up star receivers.
Who Plays Quarterback In 2024?
With Kyle McCord heading off the Syracuse, the Buckeyes so far have not found another quarterback in the portal. However, that isn’t to say they don’t have talent at the position. Five-star recruit Air Noland is a part of the 2024 class as well and could easily step into the starting job if he impresses in camp. The offseason also isn’t over and Ryan Day could land a high-profile player before the 2024 season begins. It is a position the team is going to have to figure out as many fans believe it was the quarterback position that cost them the game against Michigan.
Can the Ohio State Buckeyes knock off their rivals in 2024? Landing the number one overall recruit will certainly help.
