Ohio State got its 2024 season off on the right foot with a 52-6 win against Akron last week, and this Saturday, they welcome another MAC school, Western Michigan.
Western Michigan had a great test with Wisconsin last week, taking them down to the wire. The Broncos will look to take down a Big Ten opponent this week, so the Buckeyes better be ready.
Ohio State saw a great performance from new quarterback Will Howard, who transferred from Kansas State this offseason, and true freshman wide receiver Jeremiah Smith.
Two players who will have a major impact on this year’s team, linebacker Cody Simon and guard Donovan Jackson, missed last week’s games with injuries, but they could be seeing the field on Saturday night.
Ohio State Buckeyes Could Be Getting Jackson And Simon Back For Week Two
According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel,” Ohio State starting guard Donovan Jackson and linebacker Cody Simon are expected to be available against Western Michigan on Saturday night. Decisions on whether they play will be made at gametime.”

It’s great to see both players made available, so their injuries don’t seem to be an issue anymore. If they do play, it will be nice to see them on the field, but the team’s Bye week is coming up this week, and Ohio State could rest Simon and Jackson and make sure they are ready to go in two weeks.
The Buckeyes don’t need Simon and Jackson at the moment, but they will need the two in a few weeks when they face Iowa and Oregon, so they shouldn’t play until they are ready to go.
