Ohio State Buckeyes fans watched in anguish as the Michigan Wolverines were crowned national champions on Monday. Fortunately for the team, it isn’t all bad news for them after they secured the commitment of running back Quinshon Judkins in the transfer portal.
Judkins was the biggest name left on the transfer portal heading to the College Football Playoff National Championship. Interestingly, right after the game in Houston ended, he also made his announcement on where he’s headed next.
On his X account, formerly Twitter, Judkins confirmed that he’s joining Ryan Day’s program for the 2024 season. The Ole Miss transfer also emphasized the reason why he’s heading to the Big Ten with the Buckeyes, noting that he believes he can be a big factor in their quest for a national title.
“I’m extremely excited to join THE Ohio State Football Program. I’m looking forward to being a part of a winning culture and helping do my part to beat the TUN and bring a Big 10 Championship and National Championship to Columbus,” Judkins wrote.
“The RB brotherhood at Ohio State is incredibly special and I am grateful to have an opportunity to be a part of that. I chose this place because I know I can help this team win championships as well as continue my development as a student-athlete. Go Bucks.”
It’s certainly a massive boost for the Ohio State Buckeyes and Ryan Day, who will surely be under more pressure to deliver after the Michigan Wolverines’ national championship wins.
With more tools to create a dynamic offense, Day will certainly be ecstatic to have Quinshon Judkins in the fold.
For what it’s worth, Day’s program took some massive hit in the transfer portal in recent weeks. Kyle McCord left the team after their season concluded and proceeded to join Syracuse, while wide receiver Noah Rangers also parted ways with the Buckeyes and headed to NC State.
Fortunately, Ohio State seems to be rebounding nicely with the recent additions of Judkins and many more.
Quinshon Judkins Among New Additions for Ohio State Buckeyes
As mentioned, the Ohio State Buckeyes are quickly building a competitive roster for 2024 despite their recent departures.
While McCord left, the team was able to land Will Howard from Kansas State and is projected to compete for the QB1 role moving forward.
They also recently signed one of the best QBs of the 2024 class in Air Noland, a five-star recruit who also garnered the interest of teams like Alabama, Miami, Texas A&M, Clemson and Arkansas, per Sports Illustrated.
It has yet to be seen how the Buckeyes’ roster will take shape, but there’s definitely reason to be excited in Columbus.
