The Ohio State Buckeyes faced the Oregon Ducks earlier in the 2024 college football season where Oregon defeated Ohio State 32-31. On New Year’s Day, they faced each other once again at the Rose Bowl in the College Football Playoffs.
This time around, the Buckeyes dominated the Ducks from start to finish and won by a final score of 41-21. With the win, Ohio State improved to 12-2 on the season and Oregon’s season ends with a 13-1 record and BIG10 Champions.
Ohio State Buckeyes Fans React To Dominating Win Against the Oregon Ducks
At one point in this game, the Buckeyes had a 34-0 lead against the Ducks. Will Howard completed 17-of-26 passes for 319 yards and three touchdowns. The Oregon Ducks defense had no answers for wide receiver Jeremiah Smith. Smith caught seven passes for 187 yards and two touchdowns, along with averaging 26.7 yards per catch.

TreVeyon Henderson also rushed for 94 yards on eight carries and two touchdowns, along with averaging 11.8 yards per carry. The Buckeyes defense did not let Dillon Gabriel do much damage as he completed 29-of-41 passes for 299 yards and two touchdowns. Buckeyes head coach Ryan Day has silenced his doubters for now.
Face Texas Longhorns Next
The Ohio State Buckeyes will face the Texas Longhorns next in the Cotton Bowl at A T&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on Friday, January 10 at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN. This will be the semifinals of the college football playoffs and the winner of that game will head to the National Championship Game.
Ohio State and Texas will also be facing each other in Week 1 of the college football season in 2025. The Buckeyes and the Longhorns could be a very interesting semifinal matchup.
