Nick Saban Has Left Behind A One-Of-A-Kind College Football Head Coaching Legacy
Despite the fact that Alabama remains an elite college football program with nationwide recruiting and state-of-the-art facilities, I cannot imagine that any head coach worth their weight in salt would want to follow what Coach Saban has done over the 17 at Alabama.
With the 6 National Championships – which mirrors nicely to close friend and oft-compared ‘GOAT’, Bill Belichick’s 6 Super Bowls (although Saban, like Belichick with the Giants, also won a title at LSU prior to his stint at Alabama) – and a whopping 14 conference titles, it is truly been a remarkable decade-and-a-half for the West Virginia native and the Alabama football program as a whole.
A proven winner like Saban, it may seem strange for him to bow out after a loss in the semi-finals of the College Football Playoffs to eventual winners, Michigan, but having not won the FBS Championship now for the 3rd time in a row, it is quite possible that Saban, perhaps wondering if his team will ever reach the summit again, decided that now was the best time to hang his boots up.
The GOAT of college football heading coaching, and evidently one of the greatest football coaches ever, Saban will forever be immortalised in the annals of football history, what he does now remains to be seen.
