In one of the most shocking NFL stories of the offseason, a former player has come out and made claims that he was told some insane information. The former NFL player claimed that the opposing coaches told their players to injure the opponents during the game, and one of their players shared that information with another on the opposing team.
John Abraham Reveals Shocking NFL News
The former player that made these wild claims was Atlanta Falcons and Arizona Cardinals player John Abraham. The former pass rusher got on the “The Water Boyz Show” and he had many great small bites about his time in the league, but nothing crazier than revealing this story.
He spoke about a game in 2012 when he played against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a player for the Bucs told him that their coaching staff planned to injure them.
that during a game in 2012, a Tampa Bay Buccaneers player informed him that their coaching staff told their players to injure the opponent. He claimed that the Tampa player Donald Penn gave him a warning on the field, that the coaching staff told their players to injure their opponents.
“[Penn] was like, ‘Hey man, be careful out here. The coaches told us to hurt you all,’” Abraham said, according to JoeBucsFan.com. “I was like, ‘Stop playing.’ He’s like, ‘Nah, they told us to hurt y’all. So we’re going to be going extra. After the whistle, we’re going to be doing everything to try to mess with y’all.’”
Donald quickly denied ever having this interaction with Abraham per JoeBucsFan.com, but it would be very strange for Abraham to lie about something like this and just make the whole story up for clout.
If this is indeed true, this would be another major scandal for the league similar to Bounty Gate involving Sean Payton. He suffered a huge suspension for his involvement in that. It is hard to know what the truth of the story is, as it’s just the word of a former player against another.
It hard to see anything coming from this unless the league conducts a real investigation, but this happened in 2012. If the NFL leaves this in the past then we will probably never know what really happened on the field that day.
