There’s a lot to be excited about for the Denver Broncos this coming season. Apart from the fact that they’ve finally parted ways with Russell Wilson, there are a number of players on the squad that could make a significant impact in 2024.
One of them could be former Australian Rugby player Thomas Yassmin, who signed as a free agent with the Broncos this summer after going undrafted in April.
Denver Broncos News: Sean Payton Comments on Thomas Yassmin’s Progress

Yassmin appears to have left quite an impression on Broncos head coach Sean Payton. In a recent interview, the veteran shot-caller sounded off on the progress Yassmin has made in his limited time with the team:
“Not bad. I have to get used to the Aussie accent,” Payton said of Yassmin following the Broncos’ mandatory minicamp earlier this month (h/t Zack Kelberman of Mile High Huddle. “You are expecting a punter or kicker, and he’s a tight end. I think he did a pretty good job. He belongs.”
You love to hear it.

While more than a few international players have struggled to make the necessary adjustments upon joining the NFL, Denver believes that this won’t be the case for Yassmin, who played five full seasons with the Utah Utes before turning pro:
“He has big-time college experience, so he’s a little further along maybe than your average international player. He fits right in,” Broncos offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi said on June 12.
Don’t be surprised if Yassmin suddenly makes an impact on Denver’s offense this season.
