The NFL regular season is reaching its conclusion. With nearly every playoff game set, the NFL has taken the liberty of releasing its playoff schedule. However, there is one game that fans are not happy about.
Kansas City Chiefs Are on Peacock
Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and the Kansas City Chiefs will headline the Saturday night NFL playoff game on Peacock. This game stands out because it is the first NFL playoff game ever to be exclusively on a streaming service. As a result, Chiefs fans who do not have Peacock at this time will have to buy it by next week to watch their team. However, these are not the only people who will have to do so.
Going After Swifties?
It is no secret that Taylor Swift has made headlines this season due to her romantic life. She is dating Chiefs TE Travis Kelce. Because of this, millions of “Swifties” have taken a sudden interest in Chiefs games this season. You can argue this is a big reason why the Chiefs were chosen to be in the first streaming-only playoff game.
The Chiefs were already one of the most popular teams in the NFL with stars such as Mahomes and Kelce. However, adding Swifties to this takes the Chiefs a whole other level. The NFL seems to believe they are a juggernaut when it comes to ratings. Now, it appears the NFL wants to milk these new fans and make them subscribe to a streaming service to watch Travis Kelce, Taylor Swift, and the rest of the Chiefs.
Possible Opponents
At the time of writing, we do not know who the Chiefs’ opponent in this game will be. However, there are only two possibilities. If the Miami Dolphins lose on Sunday Night Football, they will have to go on the road to face the Chiefs on Peacock. If the Dolphins win, then the Pittsburgh Steelers will face the Chiefs.
Fans React
As you can expect, most football fans are not happy that they will now have to buy a streaming service to watch a playoff game. Here are some of the most notable reactions:
“Forcing us to buy Peacock to watch games is pathetic.”
“Please tell me why there is a playoff game on Peacock.”
“The Peacock only game is such a bad decision.”
“And you can watch them all if you have 22 streaming services.”
“Why the hell is there a playoff game on f****** Peacock…”
