What started out as a simple claim has now developed into a full-blown beef between Miami Dolphins’ Tyreek Hill and Olympic sprinter Noah Lyles. For his part, NFL legend and former Denver Broncos star Shannon Sharpe has given his take on the matter.
Just recently, Lyles says he is willing to race Hill in a 100-meter contest, but only if it’s a legitimate match with no gimmicks. The Olympian responded to the challenge by warning that Hill would be racing against a guy who has worked his whole life to get the title of ‘the world’s fastest man.

The back-and-forth between the two athletes started when the Dolphins star, claimed he could beat Lyles in a race. He had previously challenged the Olympian to a 50-yard race, which was rejected.
Lyles later appeared on a TV show and accused Hill of just chasing clout. The wide receiver had criticized him for comments he made about champions in American sports leagues not being considered world champions.
NFL Icon Shannon Sharpe Drops His Take On Beef Between Tyreek Hill and Noah Lyles

As the beef between the athletes grew, various personalities have given their take on the matter. One of these is NFL icon and former Broncos star Shannon Sharpe, as seen in an article written by Michael Gallagher for Athlon Sports.
“You can’t challenge me in something and then try to set the terms in which you challenging me,” Sharpe said on his “Nightcap” podcast. “If I challenge Steph Curry to a three-point competition, I can’t say okay, we going to shoot from 12 feet.
“…You can’t say I can bench press more than Aaron Donald then say, ‘OK, we’re only going to do 135 (pounds).’ If you’re going to challenge the man, you’ve got to challenge him at what he does.”
Hill is a former track athlete himself, having won medals at the 2012 world junior championships. He recently won the 60m race at the 2023 USA Track and Field Indoor Championships, his first race since 2014.

The back-and-forth between Lyles and Hill comes after Lyles faced some controversy at the Olympics, including revealing he had run the 200m race with COVID-19. Despite the criticism, Lyles solidified his status as one of the world’s fastest men by taking gold in the 100m in a tight finish.
