After Noah Lyles dropped a challenge of his own for Tyreek Hill, the Miami Dolphins star called on the Olympian to make things official between them. In effect, the latter is now getting serious when it comes to racing the sprinter on the track.
The beef between Hill and Lyles began when the latter made comments on a TV show criticizing the Olympian for his performance in the 200-meter dash at the Olympics, where the sprinter revealed he had been diagnosed with COVID-19. The Dolphins star said he believes he could beat the gold medalist in a race.
Lyles responded by saying Hill is just chasing clout and challenging him to actually come to him and his agent to set up a formal race, rather than just talking about it online. Lyles said he would seriously consider racing the football wide receiver if the proper channels are gone through.
This latest challenge from Hill implied that a contract has been drawn up for the 50-yard dash, putting the ball in the Olympian’s court. He has a personal-best 100-meter time of 10.19 seconds, while Lyles just won Olympic gold in the event with a time of 9.79 seconds.

Just recently, Hill responded to Lyles’ claims in his Nightcap interview with Shannon Sharpe and Chad Johnson. This can be seen in an article posted by ESPN and in a tweet on the Dolphins star’s official X account.

“Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill has taken aim at Noah Lyles, challenging the 100-meter Olympic gold medalist to a race on social media Sunday. The speedy Hill apparently wasn’t impressed with Lyles’ win in the men’s 100-meter final at the Paris Olympics on Aug. 4, and he took exception on the “Up & Adams” podcast Monday to Lyles saying Super Bowl champions were not “world champions” — a dig the sprinter previously leveled at NBA champions as well,” the ESPN article stated.
Hill, a former high school track star, showcased his speed by winning the 60-meter sprint at the 2023 USATF Masters Indoor Championships with a time of 6.7 seconds, reigniting his rivalry with Olympic 100m champion Noah Lyles.
The two athletes have been trading jabs, with Hill saying he would beat Lyles and then put on a COVID mask to rub it in. He has also expressed interest in competing in the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. It remains to be seen if the two will actually meet on the track to settle their rivalry.
