There is one former NFL coach in addition to a large amount of the fan base that wants the Washington Commanders to change their team name back to the Redskins.
This has been a controversial topic for some years, and there are many different opinions on the matter, but one former coach thinks they should switch the name back.
NFL Coach Think The Commanders Should Be The Redskins
The Commanders are off to an amazing start this year with their rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels who has taken the league by storm in just three games as a starter in the NFL. But as they are getting off the ground there are calls from former coach Chuck Pagano as well as many fans, to change the team name back to the Redskins.
Pagano, who coached the Indianapolis Colts from 2012-17, thinks the Commanders should change their name back to the “Redskins.”
“Should go back (to the “Redskins”), that’s why I said it,” Pagano said.
Pagano revealed that sentiment when he was talking about one of their victories this season. Even though he is not alone in that desire, the likelihood that will happen is slim to none. The whole story in regards to the team name has been a disater, and while many want the old team name they fell in love with, it does not seem like they will get that.
NFL Fans Back Former Coach Chuck Pagano
Pagano is nowhere near the only one who wants the name changed back, as many fans of the team, and fans around the league want the same. The same fans are quick to point out that the Kansas City Chiefs have gotten to keep their name when it is in the same vane as their former team name. They look at the name as a celebration of the Native Americans and not in derogatory nature.
Fans have wanted the name to return for a while but it does not seem like there is any chance of that happening:
