As discussed on Gridiron previously:

According to Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team, the New England Patriots plan to release WR Juju Smith-Schuster. This comes after having a disappointing 2023 season with the team. What did he do last season that led to this release? Smith-Schuster had just 260 receiving yards and one touchdown reception.

If this was not enough, the Patriots are willing to light money on fire to be rid of Smith-Schuster. That is because the team still owes him $7 million this season. Yet, they still plan on releasing him.

The team clearly wanted to move off of the receiver even with the loss of the money. That can only mean one of two things; either the team is very impressed with their young receivers, or JuJu does not have anything to bring to the table for the team.

NFL Fans Think The Kansas City Chiefs Will Bring Him Back

The team has moved on from the Super Bowl winning receiver after he signed a $33 million contract last year. Now that he is officially a free agent, NFL fans are all in agreement about where he will land before the year.

After the news broke that Smith-Schuster was released, fans are all suggesting that the only team he can wind up is the Kansas City Chiefs, as they know him and have worked well with him before. Some fans are just saying that because the Chiefs do not have the best receivers in the business right now, while others a just want it for the jokes.

“The lack of clarity on Rashee Rice is frustrating here. If the Chiefs think a suspension is coming, it would be worth signing JuJu to a vet minimum to be covered. If Rice is likely to play all season, it’s hard to fit JuJu in,” one user wrote.

“Juju would be a solid veteran addition to the roster. He already knows the offense and if he isn’t fully healthy the Chiefs can start him on IR and let him get fully healthy while deciding who would stay and who would go when he returns. He is a great fit for KC’s offense, had almost 1000 yards in his only season in KC, and helped us win a SB. Bring him back, Veach!” wrote another.

“Chiefs brought back Mecole for fan service they can certainly do the same for Juju who was actually good when he was here,” a third noted.

Smith-Schuster had quite the poor season this past year and was not in Pro Bowl form with the Chiefs either. He still was able to be very helpful for the team to win a Super Bowl.

Do you want to see him back with the Chiefs, or is there a better spot for him?
