NFL fans could not believe the absolute embarrassment that came from the Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. This came after the demolition that the Cowboys suffered against the Detroit Lions on Sunday losing 47-9!
The Cowboys are done and it has Jones furious and out of sorts, as they expected a much better start to the season. They are now fighting for their lives to make the postseason and their schedule will just get tougher. Jones made a radio appearance and it got intense, with the Cowboys owner even going as far as to threaten the radio host that he would fire him.
Jerry Jones Makes Embarrassing Threat To Radio Host
Jones was understandably pissed by the way the season has gone so far and specifically, this embarrassment that they got in their recent game with the Lions. The team sits at 3-3 right now, and that is actually an amazing record given how they have played so far. They could easily be 1-5 or 2-4 for how bad they have played.
In Jones’ weekly radio appearance on the 105.3, Jones alluded to making a threat to the radio host that he would fire him for asking questions about the lack of any type of offseason moves. These questions were caused by Jones saying the team was ‘ALLL IN’ for this year and then they didn’t make a single good move:
“This is not your job. Your job isn’t to let me go over all the reasons that I did something and I’m sorry that I did it. That’s not your job. I’ll get somebody else to ask these questions. I’m not kidding. You’re not going to figure it out what the team is doing right or wrong. If you are, or any five or 10 like you, you need to come to this (NFL) meeting I’m going to today with 32 teams here, you’re geniuses,” Jones said, via The Athletic’s Jon Machota.
“You really think you’re gonna sit here with a microphone and tell me all of the things that I’ve done wrong without going over the rights? Listen, we both know we’re talking to a lot of great fans, a lot of great listeners. And I’m very sorry for what happened out there Sunday. I’m sick about what happened Sunday…
“One of the stupidest things I’ve ever done, that anybody had ever analyzed was buy the Cowboys. It was an idiot that did that. So idiot things can turn into good decisions. Smart things can turn into bad decisions. The facts are when you make one, you don’t really know if it’s going to be good or not at the time. You want some conversation this morning, you’re getting it.”
Jones and the Cowboys are clearly getting to a boiling point, and this is just a bad look for the owner and the team. Their schedule will only get tougher, and this team is an 8-win team at best. Fans absolutely roasted Jones on social media for his comments.
NFL Fans Ripped Jerry Jones For Awful Radio Appearance
After Jones’ outburst fans took to social media to touch the owner for his comments. While Jones has always been a more vocal owner, this is something that fans have never seen from him. There are clearly some major issues in Dallas and they aren’t going away any time soon:
“Jerry Jones about to make more changes to the morning show than he did to his football team in the off-season,” one person joked.
“If Jerry Jones put this much anger and energy into trying to improve the Cowboys like he did with his radio interview this morning, his team might be a lot better,” joked another.
Other fans were even embarrassed for the owner:
“Jerry Jones on @1053thefanthis morning with his delusional defiance was wild, he’s absolutely lost it. If you’re a Cowboys fan you should be embarrassed by how he approached today’s conversation and how he answered what were very good questions!” said one fan.
“I’ve never heard Jerry get this personal and unaccountable,” added another.
This Dallas team with their coach and main core of players is not good enough, and they did nothing to help the team in the offseason. They will have to make some real changes, and they may find themselves in a rebuild pretty soon.
The real issue is that the team is locked down to their core players, and they are simply not good enough to get the job done week in and week out. It is almost certain that this will be their head coach’s last season with the team.
