The NFL continues to expand internationally as they enter new markets to continue growing the sport. On Friday afternoon, commissioner Roger Goodell announced that the league will host a game in Madrid, Spain in 2025. While no other details have emerged as of this writing, this is becoming a huge trend of the NFL wanting to expand into a global market.
As of this point, the league will hold games in the following countries by the 2025 season:
- Mexico City
- London
- Germany
- Brazil
- Spain
This is going to be an intriguing location for the NFL to take over as there seems to be an interest in the league. The stadium that the game will be hosted in has not been announced but the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium seems to be the frontrunner it has the second-largest seat capacity for a football stadium in the country of Spain.
It will be interesting to see how many international games continue to be added and who will be playing in that game.
What NFL teams should be in the 2025 International Games in Madrid?
While the 2025 NFL season schedule has not happened yet, seeing a team with an international flair would be intriguing for this game. One team that would be interesting to see in Madrid would be the Miami Dolphins as they have commercial rights in the country. That means there are going to be a lot of people interested in the Miami Dolphins.
Another team would be the Chicago Bears as they also hold commercial rights in the country. This would be interesting and either team could hold a fun divisional game there and have it feel like an electric crowd that is hungry for some NFL action.
