The Cincinnati Bengals may lose a few of their big receivers this off season, but the team has not seemed to be worried about that. The Bengals are building a wall to protect their best player Joe Burrow. He has suffered injury in a few of his seasons so far and the team is clearly taking a new direction to protect their most important player.
Cincinnati Bengals Sign Trent Brown
The team signed former New England Patriots offensive tackle Trent Brown to a one year deal, pairing him with Orlando Brown Jr. on the offensive line. This creates one of the heaviest duos in league history at the offensive line.
There is no relation between these men, but they both stand at 6 foot 8 and are a combined 715 pounds! Brown was interviewed by reporters and told them that the team’s culture was what made him want to sign. He was quoted saying:
“That was a huge thing right there,” Brown explained. “Just being where we came from, where people would get out of there for a release any chance we had. … I’ll be able to just enjoy coming to work on a day-to-day basis and that was important as well when we talk about fit.”
Cincinnati Bengals Are Changing Their Offense
The team already lost their starting running back Joe Mixon, and there have been many rumors of their star receiver Tee Higgins wanting a trade out from the team. In addition to Higgins, the team is going to lose their third best receiver in Tyler Boyd.
It is clear that the Bengals are deciding to shift their focus from a very high flying offense to having a top offensive line to protect Burrow for many years to come. It is clear, that to win a Super Bowl, you do not need star players everywhere. You need an elite quarterback to be protected and make the right plays, and a defense that can play big in the big moments.
Joe Burrow will have a much better offensive line this year than he ever has, and hopefully he can remain healthy the whole year. Every year he does stay healthy, the Cincinnati Bengals find themselves deep in the playoffs if not the Super Bowl.
